Electrical Engineer

Siebert’s Investigative Group, specializing in forensic engineering, is growing and in need of talented Engineers. Currently Siebert has opportunities in its Chicago and Kansas City area office for electrical, structural and mechanical engineers. 

Engineers are needed to perform cause of failure analysis, fire investigations, and technical review.  Such work will include, but may not be limited to, on-site inspections, equipment inspections, code analysis, technical review of documentation, research, interviews and reporting along with the potential for expert testimony.

Individuals who excel in this role have skills that include superior oral and written communication abilities, capable of working independently with a variety of clients, effective multi-tasking ability, strong work ethic and a diverse background in their area of education or experience. 

Electrical Engineering candidates should have a comprehensive knowledge in many of the following:   electrical power distribution, communication systems, computer networks, equipment design, fire alarm and security systems, lighting systems, utility distribution systems, fiber optic systems, telephone/data systems, and codes application. 

Structural Engineering candidates should have a comprehensive knowledge in many of the following:  structural design, building codes and construction, engineered materials, materials properties and analysis, plans analysis, construction materials, and codes application.   Experience in the construction industry a plus

Mechanical Engineering candidates should have extensive knowledge of machinery, electro-mechanical systems, process engineering, industrial design, ASME and ANSI codes, and basic knowledge of materials. 

  • BS in Electrical, Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering required
  • PE preferred
  • 5 years experience preferred, diverse background a plus
  • 2 years experience of interaction with clients, sales experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Local and regional travel required
  • Forensic experience a plus, but not required as will train extensively
  • Experience in safety, risk management or insurance work a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge of operation and use of MS Office products
